Almost everything changed in 2020 and annual meetings were no exception. Companies around the world adopted virtual shareholder meeting technology, often on short notice and with little precedent to follow. As a result, there are many lessons learned by various stakeholders, new recommendations and predictions for what to expect this year. Yet as we approach the 2021 AGM season, regulatory changes and the current state of the pandemic have created additional uncertainty, and issuers across Canada are preparing their annual meeting plans carefully.

Chris Main, Associate General Counsel and Assistant Corporate Secretary, TELUS

Chris leads the Corporate Governance team within TELUS Legal Services. In this role he supports Board meetings and decision-making, subsidiary governance, and continuous disclosure under securities laws. Prior to joining TELUS, he was a partner in the Corporate group of a leading law firm in Canada where his practice focused on public mergers and acquisitions and capital markets transactions. Called to the bar in Quebec and British Columbia, he is a member of the board of directors of the TELUS Friendly Future Foundation and a member of the BC Securities Commission’s Corporate Finance Stakeholder Forum.


Wouter Beerman, Issuer Services Head, Computershare Canada

A senior leader with 30+ years of B2B and B2C experience accumulated within the financial services, investment securities and wealth management industries with a focus in strategic planning, business & team leadership, operational processing, change management, client servicing & relationship management, business development, sales enablement and marketing.

Wouter joined Computershare in 2004.  He has held various senior level positions while enjoying the challenges of learning about industry dynamics and client business issues, proposing solutions, and delivering measurable value upon the successful implementation of the Computershare suite of offerings.

Amanda Castellano, General Manager – Central and Eastern Region, Computershare

As General Manager of Client Relations for Computershare’s Toronto and Montreal locations, Amanda oversees and guides the team relationships with more than 850 clients. With over 30 years in the securities industry, she provides a wealth of knowledge and experience in many aspects of the industry with a specific focus on securityholder meetings.

Amanda started her securities career at a young age and has progressed through a series of increasingly senior roles. Starting as an administrator, she then moved into the role of Team Lead for the Proxy Tabulation team, subsequently she taking responsibility of AGM Product Ownership for North America. Amanda now leads a team of 35 financial professionals.

Amanda is a strong believer in team work and continuously engages with all internal teams to ensure that all ventures end in success.
