Ilana Hechter

Ilana Hechter is a Partner in Mercer’s Career practice, and the leader of the Transformation team in Canada. A driven and passionate leader with over 17 years global management consulting and Human Resources experience, Ilana brings extensive client experience from across Canada, the US, Central Europe, and the UK. Ilana's expertise spans all areas of Talent strategy and transformation, having led and delivered engagements in strategic change, business transformation, leader/employee engagement, organizational culture, and talent management.

Ilana is particularly skilled at translating strategy to action by successfully partnering with clients to design and implement people initiatives in support of transformational objectives. These skill sets have been proven globally and cross-industry including consumer business, retail, financial services, insurance, professional services, health care, and the public sector.

In addition to Ilana's client work, Ilana has spoken at business, HR, and change management conferences, coached and mentored HR and consulting practitioners, and has an active interest in volunteering for non-for-profit organizations.

Ilana holds a BA (Hons.) and a Masters of Arts in Industrial/Organizational Psychology.

Wendy Locke, Partner, McCarthy Tetrault

Wendi is a partner in our Business Law Group in Toronto. She advises on a broad range of corporate and securities law matters, including corporate governance and compliance issues, and focuses on providing practical, results oriented solutions to clients on a cost-efficient basis.

Wendi regularly acts on both public and private offerings of equity and debt securities in Canada, with an emphasis on initial public offerings, medium term note programs and the issuance of capital securities by financial institutions. She frequently acts on behalf of Canadian issuers in connection with cross border securities offerings into jurisdictions such as the United States, United Kingdom and Australia.

Wendi represents both national and international clients in various industries, with a particular focus on the financial services, real estate and technology sectors.


Troy Winters, Senior Health and Safety Officer at Canadian Union of Public Employees

Currently working as the Senior Officer, Health and Safety for the Canadian Union of Public Employees, the largest union in Canada with approximately 650,000 members, in 3500 locals.

Through work at the National office in Ottawa, Troy assists local unions and their staff with health and safety related issues and concerns, as well as shaping broader health and safety policy for the union.

He also sits on numerous national and provincial committees and working groups, including being a Governor in Council of the Canadian Center for Occupational Health and Safety and the first labour appointee to chair a CSA standard technical committee.

Troy spent 10 years as a researcher and 5 as a Sessional Professor in the Department of Industrial Engineering at Dalhousie University in Halifax N.S. His teaching and research covered areas including industrial ergonomics, biomechanics, and work design.


Jason Fleming

Jason is a Canadian HR executive, speaker and thought-leader with over a decade of varied HR experience.  He is a strategic advisor for multiple organizations across Canada, providing guidance on HR strategy, medical cannabis technology development as well as impairment testing product development. 

Previously, Jason served as MedReleaf’s Vice President of Human Resources and led the organization’s HR and Market-Access operations.  He served as the Executive Sponsor of the $3.2B corporate integration between MedReleaf and Aurora Cannabis.  Prior to his time in the cannabis sector, Jason was the Director of Human Resources with the Seaboard Transport Group, Canada’s largest transporter of petroleum products.

Jason holds a BA from the University of Guelph, a Post-Graduate Certificate in HR Management and a Certificate in HR Law.  He was among the first 300 HR leaders in Canada to obtain the Certified Human Resources Executive designation, which he received through the Ontario Human Resources Professional Association.  Jason has been recognized as one of the top 25 HR professionals in Canada by the Canadian HR Reporter.  In 2019, he was named as a founding member of the Cannabis HR Network
