Background
Following the tabling of the Peter Dey report in 1995, T•O Corporate Services principals approached the ICSA Canada Board with an initiative to create a new association. This new organization would provide a professional service to Corporate Secretaries and related governance professionals, who wished for more collegial networking opportunities and continuing education opportunities in light of the report’s requirements. This idea received complete support and collaboration from ICSA and indeed, was considered by Peter Dey to be a worthy and necessary initiative to help bring corporate governance to the forefront. His support was underlined by providing us with a letter of attestation in the initial marketing package, which we used to introduce the new organization to the marketplace. In 2002 the Canadian Corporate Shareholder Services Association (CCSSA) merged with CSCS.
From a humble beginning with just 25 members, CSCS now boasts over 500 Membership increases steadily each year, especially following the CSCS annual conference held every fall.
